This is an original, licensed Tulip table by Knoll International. The son of architect and Cranbrook Academy of Art director Eliel Saarinen, Eero Saarinen studied sculpture in Paris and architecture at Yale. He collaborated on several projects in furniture design with his friend, Cranbrook student Charles Eames, and opened his own architectural practice in Bloomfield Hills, Michegan in 1950. Saarinen designed the ‘Tulip’ table and chair collection for Knoll in 1956. “The undercarriage of chairs and tables in a typical interior makes an ugly, confusing, unrestful world. I wanted to clear up the slum of legs. I wanted to make the chair all one thing again.” The cast aluminium base is coated in Rilsan, a thick coating made from the castor oil plant which is ten times more resistant to scratching than paint. Marble tops are polyester coated to eliminate staining.
Please note, this price is for the Arabescato marble top and white base options. We have other marble and base colour options available, to get the full list and price options please contact Customer Support at cs@mydeco.com or on 0203 384 1307.
Delivery of various Knoll and vitra products can take 4-7 weeks due to them being bespoke.
